As the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Eminent Scholar at Bowling Green State University and the Director of Science and Research for the Ohio Attorney General, Sprague brings to the board decades of experience in studying the neurobiology of addiction, as well as the pharmacology and toxicology of drugs of abuse. Throughout his professional career, Sprague has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications in these topic areas and was instrumental in writing the synthetic drug laws for the state of Ohio. In the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Sprague serves as chair of the Scientific Committee on Opioid Prevention and Education (SCOPE), in addition to serving on several other state scientific committees. Prior to joining the AG’s office, Sprague served in various leadership positions at universities across the country, including as the University Director of Academic Research and Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the College of Pharmacy at Ferris State University, the Dean and Professor of Pharmacology at the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University, and the Chair and Professor of Pharmacology at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia Tech University.
