A former rental property in Cincinnati is being transformed into certified recovery housing, thanks to a $480,000 grant from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. Talbert House, a leading behavioral health and housing provider, will soon provide new recovery housing for individuals and couples—part of a growing campus-style environment aimed at supporting long-term recovery.

The project is a powerful example of opioid settlement dollars being put to work in our communities, and directly helping those in need of safe, stable recovery housing.

“With support from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, we’re not only developing housing but also offering a stable, supportive setting where individuals in recovery can heal, rebuild, and thrive with the care and connection they need,” said Josh Arnold, Talbert House President/CEO. “At Talbert House, we believe in building a stronger community, one life at a time.”

The renovated building will feature 19 total units—13 one-bedroom apartments and six efficiencies—providing recovery housing for up to 30 residents, including a live-in resident manager. Located next door to Talbert House’s existing recovery home and directly across the street from its behavioral health and primary care facilities, the site is designed to create a holistic recovery environment with seamless access to services.

“This is exactly the kind of investment these settlement dollars were meant to support,” said Alisha Nelson, Executive Director of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. “By backing community-rooted organizations like Talbert House, we’re turning resources into real, life-changing support for people in recovery.”

The property is undergoing unit-by-unit renovations as current renters relocate. Three clients have already been identified to move in, and an additional six apartments are expected to become available within the next month. The new recovery home will join Talbert House’s existing portfolio of seven recovery properties across Hamilton, Warren, Clinton, and Brown counties.

“Safe, supportive housing is foundational to recovery,” said Hamilton County Commission President Denise Driehaus, who also serves on the OneOhio Recovery Foundation’s Board of Directors. “This project is just the latest example of what’s possible when we come together with a shared commitment to health, stability, and hope.”

A grantee spotlight event was held at Talbert House’s Tilow Executive Center on June 4th following the OneOhio Region 2 meeting.

The OneOhio Recovery Foundation is charged with managing opioid settlement funds to support prevention, treatment, and recovery initiatives across the state. This partnership with Talbert House reflects OneOhio’s mission to ensure these resources support communities and individuals impacted by the opioid crisis.
