Rachel BakeR

Statewide Board Director - Ohio House Minority Leader Appointee

Currently serving her first term in the state House of Representatives representing a portion of Hamilton County in Ohio’s 27th District, Baker is a nurse researcher providing leadership and strategic planning related to a healthcare system’s nursing evidence-based practice and research activities. Baker also mentors direct care nurses by translating evidence to practice, designing and conducting nursing research, and disseminating inquiry work through national presentations and publications. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct instructor for graduate nursing students at several universities. Since earning a master’s in social work from the University of Michigan and her PhD in nursing from the University of Cincinnati, Baker has authored 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented locally, nationally, and internationally. She also volunteers as a court-appointed special advocate providing support for children experiencing abuse and neglect. Baker lives in Anderson Township with her three children.

As someone familiar with the opioid epidemic’s impact on the healthcare system, Baker sees her service on the board as an opportunity to ensure that the OneOhio Recovery Foundation funds evidence-based programs to most effectively advance prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts across Ohio.
