Greta Johnson

Region 5 Director

A longtime public servant, Johnson has made improving the circumstances of people in need a hallmark of her career. Johnson currently serves as Director of Communications, Assistant Chief of Staff, and Public Information Officer, for the Summit County Executive. She came to that position after serving in the Ohio House of Representatives where she was recognized for efforts to remove spousal exemptions in rape cases, eliminate the tax on feminine hygiene products, and for her support for a broad, statewide response to the opioid crisis. Before her election to the General Assembly, she worked in the prosecutor’s offices of Mahoning County, Summit County, and the City of Akron. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and law degrees from the University of Akron.

Johnson says the opioid epidemic has affected residents across Summit County, and believes that ongoing collaboration between elected officials, nonprofits, service providers, and faith leaders is key to helping prevent overdoses.
