Op-Ed By Board Secretary Keith Hochadel

Read below an excerpt from OneOhio Recovery Foundation board member Keith Hochadel's recent op-ed in the Canton Repository. You can read the full op-ed (here).

“Ohioans are finally getting at least partial restitution for the terrible toll that opioid drug abuse has taken on individuals, families and entire communities across our state. And there’s a plan in place to ensure that Stark County is receiving its fair share.

In an unprecedented show of cooperation, state and local officials are working together to reach settlements with members of the pharmaceutical industry who are owning up to their products’ role in the opioid-abuse epidemic, including one settlement with the country’s three largest distributors set to pay Ohio a total of $808 million over the next 18 years.

I’m very familiar with the widespread impact of substance abuse. As someone who has been in recovery for more than 25 years after my own struggles with addiction, this epidemic is personal. Through my recovery, I spent 13 years at CommQuest leading a team focused on creating solutions to combat the opioid epidemic.”
